    2026 Parade Marching Band Application

  • Cheyenne Frontier Days™ is now accepting applications for Parade Marching Band Entries for the 130th Annual Celebration.

    The application deadline is June 20, 2026. Late submissions will not be accepted.

     Participant Requirements

    • Marching band participants must be at least 13 years of age to take part in the parade.

    Staging Information

    • The band staging area is located on the north lawn of the State Supreme Court Building, directly south of and across from the State Capitol.
    • Bands must arrive no later than 8:15 a.m.
    • Upon arrival, a parade official will greet you and assign your parade position.

    Safety & Logistics

    • Due to the large number of horses in the parade area, bands marching from buses to the staging area should keep cadence using drumsticks on the rim of snare drums only.
    • Full percussion rehearsal may resume once inside the staging area.
    • A designated DANGER AREA near the parade cannon (identified on the map in the final packet) must be avoided at all times.

    Parade Guidelines

    • Please maintain a distance of 75 to 100 feet from the unit in front of you.
    • There is no marching band competition.
    • A foot marshal, under the direction of the Parade Committee, will accompany your band along the parade route. This individual will assist the band director with any issues and ensure all parade guidelines are followed.
    • At the conclusion of the parade, personnel will direct bands off the street.

    Post-Parade Performances

    Bands wishing to perform a routine or concert after the parade may do so in the area adjacent to the west end of the State Capitol Building.

  • Parade Participation Information

    All applications are subject to approval and acceptance by the Parade Committee. 
  • Insurance

    All parade entries (i.e. Marching Bands, Mounted Groups, Wagons, etc.) are required to provide Cheyenne Frontier Days with proof of liability insurance coverage. This can be obtained through a business or homeowners insurance.

    Eligibility

    Parade entries may be from a for-profit or a non-profit entity. The parade may not be used to further any cause, no matter how worthy, whether it is social, religious, political, or commercial.

    Waivers

    Every person who will be part of your parade entry will be required to sign a release of liability waiver for each parade they are involved in.

    Theme/Attire

    Entries must depict a person, place, event, or activity depicting the history of Cheynne Frontier Days, the City of Cheyenne, the State of Wyoming, or the American West in general. Attire should be appropriate to the depiction of the entry. Western or period clothing is strongly recommended. Mounted riders are required to wear appropriate attire which includes hats, long sleeve shirts, and western boots for men, and appropriate western or historical apparel for women.

    Start Time and Location

    Each parade begins at 9 a.m. sharp. The parades begin in front of the State Capitol Building on 24th and Capitol Avenue.

    Size Restrictions

    Because of overhead obstructions along the parade route, the maximum height of any parade entry is 15 feet.

    Signage

    Signs denoting sponsors or entry names may not exceed 24 inches in length and 9 inches in height.

    For mounted groups, signs, serapes, and unit banners may show the name of the group and/or the rider's name, title, and be worded "presented by" a sponsor. Signs may not exceed 18 inches in height and 60 inches in length. There are certain national companies whose trademarks are an integral part of the entry. These will be allowed at the discretion of the committee. Please provide information about the sign you intend to carry.

    Buses

    Buses will not be permitted to load or unload, except in designated bus parking areas. A map will be sent out with the final package.

    Medical Assistance

    Medical assistance is available throughout the entire parade route, as well as at the end of the parade.

    Rodeo/Night Show Tickets

    Cheyenne Frontier Days does not provide any tickets or discounts to parade entries to it's rodeos, concerts, or carnival. Tickets can be purchased from the Cheyenne Frontier Days Ticket Office by calling (307)778-7222 or by visiting www.cfdrodeo.com.

    Parade Route

    The parade starts in front of the Wyoming Capitol and follows the parade route marked in red on the map.

  • Parade Rules

  • 1.  Participation in the parade is permitted by approval only. No individual or entry may participate without prior authorization.

    2.  Throwing any items to spectators during the parade is strictly prohibited.

    3.  No liquids may be sprayed, squirted, or released from any parade entry, including bubbles.

    4.  Alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited in the parade.

    5.  Unloaded firearms may be carried or worn as part of an approved costume. All firearms are subject to inspection by parade officials.

    6.  Firearms may not be discharged at any time before, during, or after the parade.

    7.  Lone riders are not permitted. All riders must be affiliated with a recognized equestrian riding group.

    8.  Antique vehicles manufactured in 1959 or earlier may be permitted on a limited basis. Vehicles must be original or restored to original condition.

    9.  All participants must remain on their parade entry at all times while on the parade route. Boarding or exiting an entry during the parade is prohibited.

    10.  Parade entries must maintain continuous forward motion throughout the parade route.

    11.  To preserve the integrity and ensure the safety of the parade, the following requirements must be observed:

    • Bands, including flag corps, must maintain a normal step cadence of 120 steps per minute for the entire parade route.
    • No drills, half-step cadences, double-time routines, static routines, slow-step cadences, stopping to play or perform, or similar actions are permitted, particularly during turns or corners.
    • These requirements are mandatory due to the large number of horse-drawn carriages, horses, and mounted personnel participating and are essential for the safety of all involved.
    • Failure to comply may result in removal from the parade at the direction of a parade marshal and/or forfeiture of any compensation or awards.

    12.  Gaps in the parade negatively impact the spectator experience. Entries creating gaps will receive a warning from parade officials. Continued failure to close gaps may result in removal from the parade.

    13.  At the conclusion of the parade, entries must not stop to unload or allow participants to disembark until they have returned to their designated unloading area.

    14.  Special contractual considerations apply to Cheyenne Frontier Days sponsors.

    15.  First-time entries and entries that have changed from the previous year must submit photographs or renderings with their application. Cheyenne Frontier Days reserves the right to inspect any parade entry.

    Parade marshals will be stationed throughout the staging areas and along the parade route to ensure compliance with all parade rules and safety requirements.
